UCAAN is run on passion and the drive to help those who need it most. After Rachel Shur’s own experience with Cancer, she saw just what was missing in the world of cancer patients/survivors…..they were desperately in need of the Hope and Inspiration to get them through the worst of times, the information that was out there for them and the financial assistance to help them AFTER the Treatments were done and the Cancer was gone!
We at UCAAN Believe that it’s the little things that make the biggest difference, so we strive to provide as many “little things” to those that need it, in hopes that it will be shared with others and continue to aid those who really do need the Hope and Inspiration!
UCAAN is an Organization of caring people; survivors and family members of survivors who have a passion to work with YOU – the Amazing Survivors and Patients that Need Help Now!
So what Does UCAAN Do?
UCAAN provides Gifts of Hope to Cancer Patients/Survivors and their families. These gifts are all Handmade and include Share the Hope Bracelets, In Support of & In Memory Of Plaques & Candle Holders and Greeting Cards.
UCAAN provides resources to cancer patients and their families that request them, there are too many resources to put on a website, so we prefer to talk to patients on a one on one basis to find out exactly what they need and how we can help them. If we don’t have the resource they are looking for in our database we will in turn search for what they are looking for and find a way to help them!
UCAAN gets the community involved not only be speaking at schools, at local businesses and for others, but we focus on spreading awareness to others. UCAAN gets students, Girl Scouts, Senior Concerns and other organizations involved by inviting them to help share the hope by decorating greeting cards that we send out to cancer patients across the country!
UCAAN will be offering free healthy cooking classes at our new office, once we open January 11th, 2012. Details to come!
UCAAN hopes that was we get more sponsors that we will be able to help more and more cancer patients/survivors and their families with the following:
* Provide Financial Aid for Patients – Dental Assistance, Chiropractic Care, Vitamins & Nutritionist Assistance, Gym Memberships, Therapy, Healthy Eating Grants, etc.
* Provide Housing Assistance to Patients – Grants for housing help, temporary recovery housing for patients & assistance to pay electricity/gas/ phone bills.
* Provide Advocates for Patients – to help them with their daily appointments, remembering information, help with daily activities.
* More Support Options To Be Announced!
